Only Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu was present at the Southern Governors meeting. The rest Governors from the South-East didn’t attend and some sent their deputies. This is a region that is clamouring for the presidency.

You may say, so what? Well, Politics will continue to remain a game of numbers and strategy.

After the Southern Governors meeting on Monday, South West Governors and their National Assembly Representatives in both chambers met Tuesday evening to deliberate further some of the issues from the Southern Governors meeting as it affects them; Constitution amendment and restructuring.

They resolved to set up a committee comprising caucus leaders in the two chambers of the National Assembly and Commissioners of Justice in the South West States, to further harmonise the positions of the region on issues relating to the amendment of the 1999 Constitution.

Impressive!

Tomorrow if their zone strategizes their way into producing the next presidential candidate, I hope the rest of us in Southern Nigeria won’t cry wolf?

Power is not given, it is taken. And South West Governors are walking their talk irrespective of their different political parties. Let others be proactive as well and work out their zone’s political salvation.

Meanwhile, Gov. Ben Ayade of Cross River was absent. He does not attend South-South or Southern Governors meetings. In the nearest further, some of his supporters will travel to Abuja to go lobby that he should represents the South-South region on some issues because he is a ‘former Governor.’ Okay.
